The words "I Am" are powerful words, offering the opportunity for positive affirmations of healing, self-love, purpose, and abundance. Adding the word "Love" offers the belief that everyone is worthy of love, should be loved, and feel love regardless of their age, colour, or gender. And adding the word "Project", offer the potential for limitless possible actions. These words are part of what the I AM PROJECT is all about.
In episode 50, Genny spoke with Amy Tung, an entrepreneur and community advocate who created the I AM LOVE PROJECT, a socially conscious enterprise, in 2018 out of a desire to help and give back, to "spread the love" to the community, be a catalyst for change, support those who need it the most and open a door of opportunities for others.
Drawing on her own journey of persevering through her challenges, Amy wanted to provide women an avenue to restart their lives and build something better. The I AM LOVE PROJECT supports women through training and community support and provides opportunities for employment and extra financial assistance when they need to find community, purpose, and hope.
They began making bracelets using different crystals that were then sold to raise funds for local charities, schools, non-profits, and other organizations. They now make earrings and necklaces in addition to the bracelets, and 60% of their jewelry is handmade by women in Manitoba facing employment barriers, and 40% are imported for assembly.
Amy's mission is to continuously encourage self-love, a mindset that is cultivated through the support of the community and backed up with heart and hard work.
