In episode 53, Genny spoke with Rana Bokhari, an entrepreneur, lawyer, former leader of the Liberal Party in Manitoba, and now, a mayoral candidate for Winnipeg. A politician since 2013, Rana was the youngest person to lead the Manitoba Liberals and the first Manitoban of South Asian descent to lead a political party in the province.
Rana is passionate about Winnipeg and has a clear vision that encompasses her three pillars: community, sustainability, and prosperity. She shared that band-aid solutions or one-off solutions are not enough.
Concerned about the environment, the land and how the most vulnerable are being treated, Rana is committed to justice and creating space for the voiceless, while being her true, authentic self. A woman, a Pakistani woman and a Muslim woman, Rana will get the job done.
