66 - Disconnect To Connect
Going on a retreat can mean a weekend at the spa to rest and relax. It could also be mean a spiritual experience such as visiting an Ashram in India. And it could also be a group getaway in which members of that group take time to form bonds with each other and work on goals. In the military sense, it’s the act of withdrawing from enemy forces to regroup and come back stronger. And when you apply that act of withdrawing, a retreat can be a sense of withdrawing into yourself; the act of giving up and taking time to regroup in a quiet and secluded place in order to come back stronger. In episode 66, Genny spoke about a recent retreat she took at Moon Gate Guesthouse in Whitemouth, Manitoba. It was a very busy summer and she needed to get away; to withdraw into herself and find some clarity. And that’s exactly what she experienced during her stay. Owners Jenny and Michel Dupas created a soul nurturing place where you “disconnect” from the busy world and grow, heal and “reconnect” with yourself and with Mother Earth. While Genny was on her retreat, she did some exploring in the area, visiting Joe, who roasts Barnwood Coffee, at J & A Farms just past Seddons Corner; Andrew Goosen, who owns Trails End Coffee in Elma; Megan and Rene at Wild Skies Resort; and Shannon at the Spicy Radish Restaurant in Whitemouth. It was 24 hours of rest and relaxation, visiting coffee roasters (and buying coffee to take home!), and finding that clarity and focus that she needed.
