75 - Chat with Alix Loiselle of La Belle Baguette

Coffee goes well with...well, with almost everything but especially with pastries! Croissants, danishes, cinnamon buns, macarons...the list goes on!

In episode 75, Genny spoke with Alix Loiselle, owner of La Belle Baguette bakery. One of her favourite bakeries, Genny shared a few of her fav pastries such as his Almond Croissant (Alix mentioned it’s his #1 seller at the beginning!) and his seasonal croissants such as pumpkin spice, blueberry, and cherry. She also shared that his “croque monsieur”, which is a savoury item, was also one of her favs!

Alix shared that he was inspired by his grandmother’s baking but initially, his first passion was music! A classically trained pianist, Alix also played the trombone and wrote his own music. He then pursued his passion for baking by enrolling in Culinary School. After working for various hotels, he wanted to work for himself so when the property came up for sale on 248 Avenue de la Cathedrale, he knew it was the meant to be and officially opened La Belle Baguette on July17, 2015.

Today, you can find pastries, sandwiches, and the “croque monsieur” at various coffee shops throughout the city. As well, Alix carries several “Manitoba Made” products at his bakery.

Even though Alix devotes most of his time to the bakery, he is focused on work-life balance by listening to music to relax, pursuing creative projects, and still writing his own music.
