Emily Cave on Love, Loss, and Life with Her Late Husband Edmonton Oiler Colby Cave

No one could possibly imagine the surprise and pain of your spouse passing at age 25 suddenly, under any circumstances. Emily Cave has lived it, and is stepping into The Inner Circle to share her story. Colby Cave was a forward for the Edmonton Oilers and the AHL's Bakersfield Condors, and before that with the Boston Bruins organization and the WHL's Swift Current Broncos. He passed away on April 11, 2020, due to complications from a colloid cyst on his brain. Since his sudden and tragic passing, Emily has worked with the Edmonton Oilers to set up the Colby Cave Memorial Fund, which donates to charitable organizations that benefit causes that were important to Colby. 

The amount of strength, perseverance, and the sense of being grounded that Emily demonstrates is remarkable. The city of Edmonton's response and support for Emily and the family of Colby Cave has been extraordinary. In this episode, there is much heartbreak, but there is also a strong message of a community stepping up and supporting one of their own in a time of terrible tragedy.
