Regional Director at Netball America
Dr. Marlene Holmes is a licensed social worker and sports social worker with over 15 years of experience across mental health, healthcare, addiction, higher education, and athletics. She specializes in curriculum development and learning and development, with a passion for creating impactful programming for youth and athletes. In February 2025, Dr. Holmes joined Netball America as a Sports Social Worker and Regional Director, where she oversees youth programs and brings national awareness to how netball can be a tool for life skills, resilience, and mental wellness.
Throughout her career, she has managed residential programs for youth with behavioral health diagnoses, intellectual disabilities, and mental health needs. Across every platform, she’s witnessed the power of sport in shaping discipline, teamwork, and leadership. Dr. Holmes has presented at more than 10 national conferences in the field of sport and mental health, including the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports, the Black Student-Athlete Summit, and the CSRI Conference at the University of South Carolina.
She is also an entrepreneur, certified personal trainer, and mental health advocate committed to supporting athletes as they transition out of sport and into their next chapter of life.
