The Living Heartbeat of LCC: A Conversation with Vic Badian '61, Pre-U '62

Joining us on the podcast today is a true pillar of the educational and alumni community, Vic Badian. With a career and legacy spanning over six decades, Vic’s life story is deeply intertwined with leadership, mentorship, and a lifelong commitment to Lower Canada College.

Born in November 1944, Vic began his early schooling at Hampstead Elementary before entering LCC in the 5th grade in 1954. After graduating from Grade 12 in 1962, he attended Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, earning a Bachelor of Commerce (1966) and a Bachelor of Education (1967).

Vic returned to LCC in September 1967 to begin his professional teaching career in the Junior School. His natural leadership quickly caught the attention of school administration, and in 1975, he was appointed Administrative Assistant to the Headmaster. He served as the trusted right hand to three successive Headmasters over the next 29 years until his official retirement in 2004.

Beyond the classroom, Vic spent his summers from 1962 to 1975 at Camp Nominingue, transitioning from a passionate counsellor to the camp's Business Manager.

Though he retired from full-time administration in 2004, Vic never truly left LCC. For over two decades, he has continued to serve as a vital Ambassador for the LCC Alumni Association, keeping generations of graduates connected to their alma mater.
