84 - The Importance of Patterns in our Life

84 - The Importance of Patterns in our Life

A pattern is defined as a form or model proposed for imitation or something designed or used as model for making things.

Patterns can be found is all parts of our life: in nature, in music, in art, in literature, and even in outer space.

Patterns provide a sense of order in what might otherwise appear chaotic. Being able to identify recurring patterns allow us to make educated guesses and helps us develop important skills of critical thinking and logic.

Finding patterns is important as problems are easier to solve when they share patterns, because we can use the same problem-solving solution wherever the pattern exists. The more patterns we can find, the easier and quicker our task will be.

Patterns can be found in puzzles, in cryptoquotes, in chess, and in doodling. Patterns have been used in the advancement of medicine and science.

Encouraging your child to look for patterns in math, vocabulary, music and colours allows them to take notice of the world and discover new ways of learning.

Patterns help us understand why things work they way they do.
